Native Resorts, Casinos & Entertainment
Updated: Aug 10

Gaming has become an important economic engine for many Arizona Tribal Nations, helping fund schools, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, scholarships, cultural preservation, and community programs. Visitors who enjoy these beautiful resorts are also supporting tribal self-determination and investments that benefit Native communities across Arizona—and, through revenue sharing, schools, emergency services, conservation, and tourism throughout the state.
What many visitors don’t realize is that these casinos are much more than entertainment venues.
By federal law, gaming revenues must be used to support tribal government operations, economic development, community welfare, charitable giving, and the well-being of tribal members. In Arizona, tribes also voluntarily share a portion of gaming revenue with the State through the Arizona Benefits Fund. Since 2003, tribal gaming has contributed more than $2.3 billion to Arizona, supporting:
K–12 education
Trauma centers and emergency medical services
Wildlife conservation
Tourism promotion
Problem gambling prevention
Public safety and local governments
In addition, tribes invest directly in their own communities by funding schools, scholarships, health clinics, housing, water systems, roads, broadband infrastructure, elder services, cultural preservation, and language revitalization.
